While I was traveling to the wedding I saw a few spots of rain.
In South Africa it really is a blessing to have rain on your wedding day. There is usually a drought so people are generally excited about the rain when it comes. However I completely understand the desire for no rain on a wedding day in the PNW.
The rain stopped on my way to the wedding but about 15 minutes after my arrival the rain came again.
When the rain came, I was concerned. I remembered we had a great white tent, so I phoned Jeff. I asked if he could bring the tent. I figured it could be popped up over or around the gazebo to help dry out lawn. Jeff agreed and I was thrilled that there was a plan to keep things somewhat dry. When Jeff arrived, the rain had stopped thank goodness. Its lovely to know I have a husband that is always willing to be there for me and my clients
I loved that this wedding was ready to go and had what seemed like no need to prep or update as the event went on. For my wedding we had guests move their chairs from the ceremony area to the tables for the reception part.
Circle tables were a great choice because it meant guests could easily move their chair around for whatever action was going on. I thought it was very clever.
The details at this wedding were super helpful. I have never really thought about signs, but this wedding sure did prove the importance and ease of them. Signs and small tables were setup around everywhere letting guests know what to expect and where certain things would be. A designated smoking area. Gift table. Drinks area. Dance floor. Where the bride and groom would be. Little dessert options. Who did the catering…my husband would have loved it…it was Panda Express! YUM!!
My mom would fantasize about having my wedding at home but of course we got married in the USA so that didn’t pan out for her but here are some pros of having an at home wedding:
Its comfortable. You or the family friend know the property really well and how each nook and cranny can be used. You can safely guard the home with porta potties which have hand washing stations! There aren’t any limits really with regards to how you can decorate or what theme you desire. Your saving money on a venue space and can therefore push funds into other areas of the wedding budget. It’s a great place for your photographer to leave their equipment until its time to leave. You get to choose whoever and whatever you want with regards to vendors.
