Marie and Dales wedding was well worth the wait. They were scheduled to marry in 2020 but the pandemic pushed everything out a year.
Seeing everyone come together for this wedding was very exciting and felt electric.
The Manor at South Bay was a perfect fit for the size of their wedding.
Manor at South Bay is the perfect place to have a wedding when you have a big crowd and a lot of kids. There is so much room to run around and do cartwheels. There is even a great wall to climb for bigger kids with Mount Rainier in the background.
All the kids seemed to have a great time at the Manor at South Bay Wedding.
Have you ever heard the DJ announce the “anniversary dance”? I haven’t heard it in what seems like a really long time. I highly recommend doing it.
The anniversary dance is the last one of the traditional set of dances. Everyone who is married gets on the dance floor. Then slowly the DJ says something like the following: “If you have been married for less than a day leave the dance floor.”. Of course the fun part of this game is the bridal couple gets off the dance floor and gets to see all the couples who are ahead of them in the marriage game.
“Those who have been married 5 years and less, leave the dance floor.”….finally the DJ will get to 25, 30, 40, 50, 51, 52, 53 years. That was the winner at this wedding. They had been married for 53 years. The DJ will ask “What advice do you have for the new couple?”. This particular couple started with a joke. The husband said “Well I got hearing aids…I don’t know how that’s helped..”. They both giggled. The wife said “You have to have a lot of laughter”.
This morning, a day after the wedding, we ran into a neighbor who lost his wife just last week. We wanted to be there for him and listened to every word he had to share with us. He said the secret to 39 years of marriage was communication. We shared the laughter advice and he agreed entirely.
Anyway the Anniversary dance is a great way to engage with the guests and give them something fun to do. Not everyone gets on the dance floor at weddings but this activity will enhance that opportunity which could be good for everyone!
The way the space was used this time around, see a previous time here, was clever. Having the dance floor in front of the barns was great and allowed a lot of room for everyone to dance especially the very talented kids here.
When Cyndi Lauper’s Girls just wanna have fun came on there was so many people on the dance floor. But the best part was when about thirty people were singing along. It felt so empowering and fitting to a post pandemic world. I totally ugly cry teared up.
This is the second ceremony I have been to that quotes the movie Rocky “She’s got gaps, I got gaps, together we fill gaps.”. The ceremony was very sweet and the reveal of their story of how they met was very entertainingly presented.
The catering was by one of the best restaurants in town Pellegrino’s Catering! Chicken parmesan, pasta, gluten free pasta, white sauce, red sauce, appetizers, bread, garlic butter (maybe that was a bad idea for me to partake in), Caesar salad, beef, and veggies. They also thankfully had lemonade! Yay! My favorite.
Artistry in flowers did beautiful work with the boutonnieres and bouquets.
Mountain Home Bakery had wonderful cake!
Total Bartending were great and super helpful!
Location was Manor at South Bay, a great location with lots of space and fantastic for kids, so many options to play around. Here is another wedding I shot at the Manor at South Bay.
The DJ I mentioned will be revealed as soon as I hear back on their name
Let's chit-chat!
