South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build is an event close to my heart. I love working with Shawna at South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity.
I am so excited to be photographing the third annual South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build. This will be the third time I get to photograph this amazing event.
What happens during Women’s Build?
During this time women volunteering in this 6 day event will be helping build homes alongside future habitat homeowners.
Volunteers will learn constructions skills, being guided by professional construction workers every step of the way.
Here are a couple things I have noticed while photographing South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build in the past:
Volunteers get to spend time with one another
Volunteers get a day “out of the office” or in this years case “out of home”
Volunteers get to catch up with one another
It has been a great way for friends to spend the day together either as a birthday celebration or remembrance of a loved one
People seem grounded and connected to the earth as they are working the soil
Sponsors feel like they are investing in something that really has impact on the community
Sponsors have an opportunity to treat their employees to a day out doing something different
Home owners are so appreciative of the help
Home owners get to work alongside those volunteers, strengthening ties to the community
The faces on the home owners and volunteers are priceless when the project is completed
Volunteering at Women’s Build this year?
This video is for you. I will do my best to photograph you in the best possible way. I will get many shots from which I am sure there will be something you will like. Plus this is a chance to see my smile and hear my voice before the event Because of course this year we will all be masked up
I will be posting about this event over the next two weeks. The event will be running over two weeks, week one will be 6-8 May 2021 and week two 12-15 May 2021.
How can I get involved in South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build?
I was so happy to hear from Shawna, the coordinator for the event, that it was sold out this year but there are other ways you can help below.
You can donate to the event here, the goal is to raise $60 000 this year.
Reach out to Shawna Dutton here, so you can get involved next year.
